I know this may seem foolish, but I am having the hardest time. I have
windows xp and Media player10.00 and I also have real player on my computer.
When I go into my "My Music" folder through my computer to use with Nero, for
instance, all of the songs come up as default of realplayer and not Media
player which is what I normally use. Is there a way to change the default
player without erasing my realplayer which I do use occasionally, but I have
all of my stuff named a certain way through media player. Thank you for any
assistance you can provide.

Do not delete or try to delete RealPlayer. It has embedded system files.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU very much. It actually was not realplayer that
was the default but musicmatch. anyway, I followed your directions and it
still did not change, so I decided to see what my musicmatch defaults said
and (low and behold) it was listed as the default for all Media player files.
Again, thank you very much. God Bless

and also, one last question, I hope you will answer for me. Windows media
player is now the default, but my "My Music" folder on the computer will not
list the names of all the songs, even though I have them all named in media
player. can I press some button to make it auto update to read exactly as I
have named the files on media player? Thank you again.

You've got it in reverse. WMP creates the playlist from My Music. You
must have edited the Library, thus it is reading different than the folder.
No magic button that I know of works that way. You can edit your folders/
files by rightclicking and renaming thus creating a new listing to update the
library. Using WMP, the simplest, easiest and fastest way I have found was to
completely delete the current library playlist and then create a new one.
On the lefthand side of the window under WMP/Library tab, click
My playlist and delete current library. Go to top and click All Music.
Click/highlight the first song, hold down the Shift key and click the last
song.
This will highlight all songs in the listing. Go to the bottom and click +Add
to Library. Now you have a completely new one.
