Is there a senario where outlook xp will create a Outlook profile called
"default outlook profile" by it self? I'm using Desktop Standards policy
maker to create the Outlook profile on a Windows2k3 with Citrix server, and
mandatory profiles. I can see the correct profile gets created, then I can
see Outlook ( using Regmon ) creates another profile called "default outlook
profile" and sets it to the default.
I checked the registry at
HKCU\software\microsoft\office\10.0\Outlook FristRunDialog=False
then
HKCU\software\microsoft\office\10.0\Outlook\setup\ First-Run=<a bunch of
hex> CreateWelcome=<bunch of hex>

Is there another setting where Outlook thinks it has never started before
and wants to create the "default outlook profile" ?

thanks
John

Use Google Groups to read the many other postings that describe how to
create and use a PRF file.

I don't want to use PRF files, I'm using them now and having too many
problems such as
1. unable to get the autoarchive path set
2. office updates seem to break the profiles
3. something is happening that causes many backups of the profiles .. ex.
outlook profile is called Outlook, then there are many other profiles called
backup outlook, backup2 outlook , backup3 outlook and so on..

why would Outlook create a default profile? I want to stop it.

ok found the problem, in HKCU under MS, office10, setup,
there were keys for the PRF file, but it was blank
I removed it and it works fine now..
