In Outlook 2003, everytime I returned to the Inbox from any of the
subfolders, the highlighted message would always be the most recent by date.
Now in Outlook 2007, when I return to the Inbox, the same message from the
middle of my dated emails is highlighted - then I have to scroll all the way
to the bottom to see my most recent messages. Any way to change this?

I don't think so, but you can press the End key to move to the bottom of the
message list...
