Default gateway behaviour

Hello,

My network has two default gateways and one is a faster connection
than the other.

My computer is set to use 192.168.7.1 with a metric of 1 and
192.168.7.2 with a metric of 20

This works as expected most of the time with everything going out of
192.168.7.1 unless it's dead. But just occasionally when everything
seems a bit sluggish I check the routing table and it lists as follows

0x1 ........................... MS TCP Loopback interface
0x2 ...00 11 50 44 16 21 ...... Belkin 802.11g Network Adapter #2 -

My question is, is it normal behaviour for xp to list 192.168.7.2 as
the default gateway in the routing table if 192.168.7.1 is dead and if
192.168.7.1 later springs back into life, will it change back
automatically without user intervention or the second gateway dying?

Jim.
