Default follow-up time

Using Outlook 2002.
Whenever I go to set a time for a follow-up to an email and open up the time
drop-down, it defaults to 11PM - hardly the time I will likely be
following-up. How can I set it to 8AM?
Thanks,
Pat

Tools - Options - Calendar should have settings as to when the work day
starts. Is it currently set to 11p?

No, the workday is set to start at 8AM and end at 5PM.

Ok. When you first go into Add Reminder, the drop down is blank right? The
issue is just that when you click the dropdown arrow for the field, the
first entry it selects is 11:00 PM? Is that the first or last entry in the
dropdown list?

The odd part about that is that it is 11:00PM. In 2003, it's 12:00AM (it
makes sense that the beginning of the day would be at the top of the field.

In 2007, Add Reminder has better functionality where the Due By is set to an
hour before your end of workday (iirc, or it's just for 4pm) on Today.

Taking a closer look, this might not be changeable. I think I was
misunderstanding initially (and I'm used to certain fields that do work with
your workday).

Just to clarify: I am adding a Follow-up to an email by right clicking on
the email and selecting "Follow-up". There is a little red flag preceding
the words Follow up. Then the "Flag for Follow-Up" dialogue box opens. There
is no date in the "Due by" box. Clicking the drop down reveals the monthly
calendar. To the right of the Due By box is a box with the word "None"
appearing. When clicking the drop down arrow, the time in half-hour
increments appears. That which is presented is the bottom of the list:
8:30PM through 11:30PM. Scrolling to the top of the list shows that 12:00AM
is at the top.

Ok, well, first, the good news. What's happening is, likely, fixable, tho
at this moment, I haven't a clue what could be causing the drop down box to
go to the *end* of the box rather than the beginning.

The bad news is that even when we fix that, the dropdown box will start at
the beginning which is, as you've seen, 12:00am, which isn't any more likely
to be useful than 11:30pm. So, while yes, something on your system is
behaving oddly, fixing it won't resolve the issue you want resolved.

The good/bad news is that Microsoft recognized that when someone does a
Follow-Up tag on an email, they likely want a reminder so it defaults to a
'normal' time (1 hour before the end of the work day, whatever it may be),
so that is what it does in Outlook 2007.

Thanks for your note. I would rather scroll down to 8AM than back to 8AM.
If is just a consistency thing with me.

I've been trying to find a similar control on some other form somewhere in
Windows but haven't found one yet, so, have you tried a Detect and Repair?
It is, indeed, a shot in the dark, but I've seen it fix odder issues.
