Default date format

I have Excel 2010 (32-bit) in 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. My
regional and language settings in Windows have yyyy-MM-dd set in the
short date format.

Lately, when I enter a date in Excel, it comes up in the form 19-Jan
instead of 2012-01-19. I know how to change it, of course, but it's
annoying to have to change the format every time I enter a date.

I've looked through the options, but I'm not finding the relevant
setting. How do I tell Excel 2010 that its default format for dates
should match the format set in Windows, which is 2012-01-19?

hi Stan,

did you check "Apply all settings to the current user account and the default user profile" on the "Advanced Options" ?

Sorry, I'm not seeing that in Excel's advanced options. Can you be
more specific about where it is?

First, would you please quote properly? Quoting nothing is just as
bad as failing to trim quotes.

Secondly, there is no "Advanced Options" tab on Regional and Language
Settings. And I can't find "Apply all settings to the current user
account and the default user profile" anywhere in R&LS either.

I assume you're trying to help, so I don't want to seem ungrateful,
but if you really do want to help then please be more clear.
