Can a default category be assigned to tasks in OL2003? My colleague uses the
Taskpad by the calendar, and it would save a lot of keypresses if his new
tasks came in with a particular category when he sets them up.

Thanks

Jonathan

How does he feel about using a custom form or VBA code? Or, perhaps more relevant, since you're the one posting here, how do you feel about supporting him in extending Outlook using one of those approaches?

Thanks Sue
I'm happy to support him with a custom form (which hadn't occurred to me)
but I am uncomfortable with VBA (which had). I've never gone into custom
forms except for email templates but will investigate the idea at once,
naturally including your website! If you have a specific pointer I would be
grateful.

Just create a new contact, add a category, then publish it as a custom form to the Tasks folder and make it the default form for that folder. See http://www.outlookcode.com/article.aspx?ID=39
