default appointment question

I generally enter my daily diary notes as appointments. For example, 'ate at
Italian restaurant' and I enter it at a chosen time in the evening and with
no duration and also as 'show time as free'. I have to do these steps
manually and change the time duration from the default of 30mins to 0 mins
and also change the show time from busy to free. How can I do this by
default without having to manually change them for each appointment?
