Default Admin Crashed - Cant Admin logon now - fix?

Default Administrator crashed out of blue...
When XP came back up, Admin the user was gone...
Still comes up under user listings under "system
properties",
but not under "user listings" under "control panel"...
therefore, cant switch to user "admin" and cant login
at any time as user "admin"... go figure...
Any clues how to fix it? Thanks in advance
