Debug mode and mouse hooks

I'm using windows hooks to detect mouse events (i.e., SetWindowsHookEx with
WH_MOUSE_LL). Everything works as expected until my code breaks into debug
mode via a break point. When the code first breaks into debug mode the mouse
cursor stalls such that there is ~1 second between updates of the cursor.
After ~10 seconds the cursor goes back to normal. Is there any way to avoid
this behavior?

Thanks,
Lance
