Dear Satan:

Please tell me how to stop the purging of System cache. It tends to stay
under 100 mb even after I made the changes below:

Cache File timeout - 99999 seconds
Unused File Cache - 40
Dormant file Limit - 500

System Cache parameters are below:

Minimum Cache Size - 4752 kb
Maximum Cache Size - 522240 kb

Thanks and have a Happy one.

Satan is busy tormenting the damned. Right now I'll have to try to help if
you'd like. Let's start with some basics - where and with what did you make
those changes? Define, if you will, system cache?

System cache (under W98 known as Disk cache) is a part of memory that holds
files, etc.

Under W98, I have seen the cache size grow until there is only about 5mb of
free memory left but under Wxp the cache size tends to fluctuate under 100 mb.

I have enabled LargeSystemCache (LargeSystemCache=1) and made the changes
listed below but that did not help.

It seems that the cache is being purged so how can I stop the purging.

AFAIK there is nothing in Windows XP known as "System Cache". What are
you talking about?

I use LargeSystemCache = 1

Look in the registry.

Umm... All that does is allow the kernel to be paged to memory? Without
enough memory you won't be able to make much use of this.

Now that I know where you speak of...

Open My Computer
Select Properties
Click Advanced
Under Performance click Settings
Advanced tab
Select Programs
Click Okay a couple of times
Reboot...

Try the system caching with more RAM. Disable any "RAM Cleaning" software.
