My present subscription for NAV 2001 expires soon and cannot be renewed. If
I buy a new Norton AntiVirus and install it on my present computer, can it
be transferred if I buy a new computer? I have tried to contact Symantec but
my email has been undelivered. Their website is frustrating to use!

anne,

You state that emails to Symantec have been undelivered and additionally
their website is frustrating to use, but you are still considering buying
their product. Is there anything wrong with this picture?

Wouldn't it make sense to buy some other product where you can get
reasonable support?

It's your choice and good luck.

I have also got to uninstall system works 2000 /reinstall system work 2004 !

You might want to have a look at

http://search.symantec.com/custom/us/query.html
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...98100717390007
http://nh5.nohold.net/noHoldCust502/...cripts/framesk

http://nh5.nohold.net/noHoldCust502/...cripts/framesk
p.asp?sid=2784162&ds=nh5.nohold.net

Also

1) go to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp and install
all relevant security updates for you OS

2) consider also using a free software firewall? e. g www.zonealarm.com

transfer subscription

NB Search for Document ID:2004021712161646 Last Modified:18/06/2004 as below

Can I transfer an existing subscription to my new computer?

If you will not be using the Norton program on your old computer, you can
transfer your remaining subscription time to another computer. However,
installing the subscription on more than one computer at a time is not an
available option. Each copy of the program provides a subscription for one
computer.

How to transfer the subscription time remaining your situation qualifies,
use these steps below to have the remaining time on your subscription
transferred a different computer using the same Norton program.

To transfer the remaining subscription time Write down the Account ID from
the old computer. Read Determining your Account ID to find the Account ID.
Install the Norton software on your new computer.
Run LiveUpdate. Download the updates and restart the computer if you are
prompted to do so.
Write down the new Account ID from the new computer. Read Determining your
Account ID to find the Account ID.
Contact Customer Service. Give the Account ID for the old computer and the
new computer. Ask Customer Service to transfer the remaining time to your
new installation of the Norton program.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
Note: If you already uninstalled the program from your old computer and
therefore cannot get the Account ID to send to Customer Service, they will
still be able to transfer the time by looking up your purchase record. If
you can send your subscription renewal order confirmation number, it will
facilitate the process but it is not required.

Since many seem to be having problems with Norton Antivirus2004, why don't
you consider using the one year free trial offer from MS. It includes the
antivirus and firewall, free of charge. Then when Norton 2005 comes out, you
can make a choice,.
It is available on the MS site to download or you can just order their
Critical Update CD which still ships the Securtiy CD.
No cost to you, even for shipping. Check out the MS site.
