Last week I connected my pc to LCD 32inch tv. It was working fine for a couple of hours then the pc just switch off and rebooted. It then got to the login screen then would reboot again, this happened a few time until I switch the pc off and left it for 24 hours. I switched the pc on and it would only go as far as the login page then reboot again.

I have since cleaned the cpu fan as it was quite ditry but now the pc will not start at all. When I turn the tower on it makes no beeping sound but the fan is now quite noisy, the harddrive light and power light is showing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure that you have not disloged any cables whilst you were cleaning your fan then try and see what happens. Just gently push each cable into its socket to make sure that it is seated right.

Ooooh tough one.

Canyou list the specs of your PC please, Operating system, processor, amount of memory and grasphics card.

It could be something as simple that you have an old graphics card and are running vista on a large tv and its overheating. Vista Aero graphics is quite demanding.

But we need more info to diagnose effectively.

There are a few things that it coud be.

One is overheating like was mentioned previously. I don't think it would be this though. But when it crashed it might have corrupted files on your PC.

Another might be that somehow your hard drive (files on it) got corrupted. To check for this you can run a utility called checkdisk.
1 Click Start > Run.

2 In the Run box, type the following text:
cmd

3 Click OK.

4 At the command prompt, type the drive letter of the drive you want to check (followed by a colon), and then press Enter.
For example, to check drive D, type the following text:
d:

5 Change to the root directory of the drive by typing the following text and pressing Enter:
cd\

6 Type the following text, and then press Enter:
chkdsk /<switch>
where <switch> is one of the following:
* If you want to automatically repair file system errors, use the /f switch (for example, chkdsk /f).
* If you want to both repair file system errors and scan for and recover bad sectors, use the /r switch (for example, chkdsk /r).

If you do not specify a switch when running CHKDSK, any errors that are found will not be fixed.

7 If you are prompted to schedule CHKDSK to run the next time the computer restarts (because CHKDSK may be unable to gain exclusive access to the drive under Windows), type the following text, and then press Enter:
y

8 At the command prompt, type the following text, and then press Enter:
exit

9 If you had to schedule the CHKDSK operation, then restart Windows NT/2000/XP.
While Windows is loading, CHKDSK should automatically run and check the drive that you specified earlier.


OR

You could try and do a repair install of your OS and see if that fixes it.

would say its more than likely a hardware prob more than software.

Do you mean that nothing appears on your monitor at all? If so then yes I agree with Waynos on it being a hardware problem.
