Dead Links in Outlook Express 6?

Something has happened to the Outlook Express 6 links.
They are highlighted, underlined and dead. I can not
click on a link and get IE6 to open the page. It could be
related to something my 12 year old grand-daughter did
while using AOL. I do not have AOL account but she has an
account and uses our computer to connect. I had to go
into the registery to get the Favorites listed on the
Start menu to work through IE again because of her AOL
activity. What do I need to do to make the links connect
to IE6 again? For some reason AOL has made a major entry
into the register. I have and use AOL instant messaging.
MORE INFO: I have IE6 SP4, Zone Alarm Pro 3 and Cookie
Crusher v 3.1.1.1
