I use a worksheet for numerous calculations in the manner of a weekly log
spanning columns A to N and rows 1 to 30. All these rows and columns work
fine.

However, to check a few numbers I used a few cells below the log,
highlighting them and expecting the total to appear as normally on the
status bar. This does not happen. On trying to calculate the numbers as
=SUM(G38:G44) this does not work either, giving a total of 0.

I am perplexed as to why these cells are apparently dead.

Can anyone help?

TIA

Ed

Hi Ed,

Your "numbers" are probably text. Format as general AND re-enter the numbers (F2, ENTER)

Thanks, Nick. Although I had already formated as 'General', F2 did the
trick.

Best wishes,

Ed
