Hi,

With some computers you cannot deactivate the wireless network adapter
(or sometimes other adapters too) in Network neighborhood / Properties
even if the user has administrative permissions.

Either the 'Deactivate' menu item is grayed out and disabled or you may
be allowed to click it, but shortly after an error dialog pops ut
stating that it cannot be deactivated due to various reasons.

Which methods should we use to have higher 'success rate' in
deactivating network interfaces? Note that I'm at the network
properties level, so switching off the radio is not an option.

Thanks for comments and tips

regards

Tor

Through the Device Manager should be a sure bet. Another option which
isn't available on all, but through the BIOS (Setup).

I know that's a last chance, but doesn't it exist any other ways to
force deactivation from the Network connections window?

It should be noted that if a BIOS happens to have a setting to control
the wireless adapter, there might also be a "physical" button on the
PC (laptop) to turn this off.

If it is built in like a laptop, they usually has a switch or a hotkey
to disable them.

Have you tried stopping and disabling the Wireless Zero Configuration
service?
