How to deactivate the OS hardware scan

Hi,

Is it possible to deactivate the OS hardware scan as I am running my own
installation patch & drivers and do not want the the auto hardware scan to
execute which will pause the process.

Is done thru' the registry, & if yes how can i desactivate this option from
registry ?
