DDR400 PC3200 Compatibility with other types/speeds

I have 1gb of RAM(ddr400/pc3200) and want 1gb more, does it have to be
ddr400/pc3200?

Yes it does have to be DDR400.
You can mix and match speeds sometimes(and get away with it), but not
recommended.
