I have an ASUS P5E3 motherboard that I'm looking to upgrade. On hand I
have a bunch of 2 GB sticks of DDR3 Corsair TR3X6G1600C9.
The "memory features" page on the ASUS website says the following for
memory compatibility:
"The motherboard supports DDR3 memory that features data transfer
rates of 1800(O.C.)/1600(O.C.)/1333/1066/800 MHz to meet the higher
bandwidth requirements of the latest operation system..."
So my question is, will this memory work in this motherboard? I don't
care to overclock it; this is to be a server system that needs
reliability and a decent amount of memory moreso than it needs fast
clock speeds. From the ASUS statement above, it's not clear whether I
need to overclock it to use this memory (in my ideal world, the memory
would simply "run slower" to match the cpu; it's been a while since
I've followed memory technology so I don't know if this is true or
not).
