In my Gigabyte GA-8KNXP motherboard I can use PC3200
memory with a CAS latency of 2 or one of the newer PC3700
or PC4000 memory modules with a CAS latency of 3. I
currently don't plan on overclocking my memory.
Overclocking is something I might try in the future
however. Here are my questions. If I run PC3700 or
PC4000 memory at my motherboard stock speed of 400 MHz,
will it only run at CAS 3? If this is the case, wouldn't
I get the best performance from PC3200 memory with CAS
2? Is PC3700 or higher only a benefit if you run it at
overclocked speeds?

Ehhh What's up Doc ?

With the P4 you want memory to run as fast as possible, async of the FSB.
PC3200 is rated for 200MHz(DDR400) PC4000 is rated for 250MHz(DDR500) Buy
good quality memory and the fastest you can afford. For a given speed, look
for the lowest CAS latency. If you decide to overclock at some point, you'll
have some headroom. Corsiar and Mushkin are two very good names.
