I have an issue, i bought a new 1 GB DDR2 stick PC 4200, but instead i received a 1GB DDR2 PC4300, the thing is i already have 1 stick of 1 GB DDR PC4200 on my mobo, and if i put the 2nd 1GB PC4300 stick together with the 1 GB PC 4200 will this cause a problem, or i can mix them with no hassle?

it should all work fine

I'm out of bed and dressed, what more do you want?

I always take life with a grain of salt, ... a slice of lemon, ...and a shot of tequila

I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out

One more step to enlightenment ... but which way ?

You is confusing me ...

DDR has a different pin-out over DDR2 ... one will not fit in the others slot

So, what does the MB support?

Thanx for the fast reply guys, much appriciated.

Well i putted in earlier today, and im experiencing random crashes.

Ill elaborate to give you guys a clear idea:

I inputed the stick earlier this afternoonn 5 minute later my pc restarts.
Another reboot and 2 minute into windows my pc restart again.

Restart again and this time windows start normally , and 1 hour later pc restarts again.

I ran the mem windows XP diagnostic from DOS to check if the memory was faulty, all test passed no problems found. SO seems the memory is fine.

PC restarts at odd random occurence, about 46 minute ago it restarted while it was idle.

Any clue what may be the cause of this issue?

My pc spec:
P4 3.0GHZ
2GB DDR II 1GB pc4200 + 1GB pc 4300
ATI RADEON XPRESS 200
Windows XP Service 2
PSU 600 OZ GamerXTreme 12Vx4-18A

you need to clarify exactly what type of memory it is and the make and model of your motherboard

This is an update.

I swapped the memories by swapping them in different slots , and now my pc is running fine, no more crashes during gaming sessions.

What i want to know, when i took memory 1 and placed it in memory slot 2 and took memory 2 and placed it in slot 1 my pc stop crashing?

Why did it solve the problem? anyone has a clue

It is what we call 're-seating' and sometimes can, as you have found, miraculously 'cure' a problem. On the other hand it could be ............
