DDE Server Error when connecting to Juno

I get a DDE error 'connection to server' 16435 when connecting to Juno 5.1
Juno says I need to upgrade. I think there is something else going on.
(Juno's upgrade to 8.1 is a big step backward with even more problems.)

Any ideas welcome
