I have put a .dcr file (Adobe Macromedia Director) into my Powerpoint
presentation. I have the .dcr file in the same folder.
I can play it once right after I insert it but not again.

I haven't updated this page in years now -- but do take a look and see if you
are missing something:

http://www.indezine.com/products/pow...pdirector.html

Then get back and let me know where you get stuck?

Geetesh, thank you for your reply. It was through your link that I first
learned how to add the .dcr file to my PowerPoint.
More specifically the problem is ... after I add the file to the Properties,
when I exit I only see a grey box. When I go to slideshow view I can see the
graphic/animation (.dcr file) once, if I go forward a page and then back or
if I go to normal view and back to slideshow view I only see the grey box.
To see it again I must completely close PowerPoint and re-start, then as
before I can only see it once.
I am running PowerPoint 2000, but even when I downloaded the trial version
of PowerPoint 2007 I had the same problem. I have the latest Shockwave
Player 11.0 downloaded to my computer (although I also tried older versions
to no avail)

I have googled the problem thoroughly and the closest solution I can find
relates to the same problem with Flash at
http://www.flashgeek.com/tutorials/04_playing_02.asp

That site's work around obviously only works with flash but I've had no luck
finding a similar code for Director files and writing code is completely
beyond my knowledge base.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!!

The PowerPoint will be used in a classroom environment to teach Firefighters
and while I could have the presentation play through once okay I just know
that at least one question will prompt a return to the graphic (arghhh).

Thank you!!

So you are essentially looking for some VBA code that can rewind a Director
movie in the same way Flash movies are rewound (and not stalled) in
PowerPoint?

I'm not too VBA aware so I really don't know if any changes can be made to
the code used for Flash to adapt it to Director -- however, there are plenty
of VBA gurus in this forum - so let me request them if they can find
something similar that will work for Director?

Hopefully, creating a slide with an inserted DCR will be helpful -- so if
any of you needs a sample pres, do let me know.

yes, if there was a VBA code work around I would love to try it.
I would really appreciate you recruiting some guru help.
Thank you!
