I have an XP Pro box that when logging on recieves the following error:

"System Shutdown initiated by NT Authority/system. System must restart
because DCOM server process launcher terminated unexpectedly"

The computer counts down from 60 seconds and then reboots. I tried booting
in safe mode and that caused the pc to just reboot itself without the error
message. I also removed the drive and connected it to a secondary pc and ran
a virus scan which did find a number of virus' and apparently removed them.
I reran a virus scan on the drive which came up clean. I also ran and Adware
scan and removed any traces of adware also. Thinking this would solve the
problem, I reconnected the drive to the original pc and booted up only to
come across the same error and reboot problem. Any suggestions???

I'd suggest running other scans (both antivirus and antispyware) before doing
anything else. Multiple scans with different products will ensure that you
get everything.

Then, don't forget the rootkits - scanning for them is important also!

Finally, the removal may have damaged some Windows files - a good way to
repair this is a repair install of XP:

Good luck!
