As mentioned in the headline - I want a certain dcom-based service (Norton
Service Center - NSCService) not to run.
Upon opening dcomcnfg.exe, I open properties of "NSCService", "Run this
service on this computer" is activated. I uncheck it, but opening that window
again, there is a hash again.
I working as an Admin, so I´ve got all rights. Other services in dcom can be
changed in any way persistently, only "NSCSErvice" doesn´t work.

(The service itself is disabled in Services, which is the main point, but in
order to avoid a dcom error in the eventlog, I want to disable the respective
dcom entry).

Have done this on another computer, there it works.

Any idea?

Just a guess, but maybe it's because NSCService is already disabled?
Have you tried turning the service back on, then unchecking it in dcom
first?
