DCHP Server problem

Hello,

I've a problem with my Windows 2k DHCP Server.

When a client disconnect from the network and the lease time (2 Hours)
expire, the icon of that IP turns to a computer with an "I" in the DHCP
MMC - Address Lease. The problem is that IP is unavailable to another client
for a very long time. Even when the server doesn't have any IP to give, they
don't give the IP with that icon.

The DHCP server is configured without DNS Automatic Updates.

Could someone help me?

Thanks in advance

Hi 'Marlboro',
A situation similar to yours is described in the KB article : http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=261964
Note Carefully:
"In Windows 2000, leases that are expired but fall within the grace period appear in Microsoft Management Console (MMC) as inactive leases. Statistically, they are counted with active and
excluded leases as "In Use." However, any lease that falls within the grace period (inactive) may be issued by the DHCP server if the available leases fall to 0."

So, if I am to trust the KB article, the inactive leases would be available for the new clients. So your problem should not occur.
Can u confirm the following:
When there is no free IP addresses, are u sure that the inactive leases are still not available for the new clients.
Thanks for your effort,
