I have one dc in my network in which i configured active
directory through wizard and dns was also set
automatically during active directory wizard i have static
ip address that is
ip: 192.168.28.1
subnet: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 127.0.0.1

Problem:
I wana install another dc for the purpose that if in
future the already installed domain malfunction or doesnot
work properly i will replace it with the other like we
have a scenerio of BDC in NT 4.0 what should i do.
Please send me the complete solution with steps to do it
as I am very new with win2000.
Thanks.

But I did it, its not working because at the end it gives
the dns error, should I fix any dns entries before running
the dcpromo on another new server and 2ndly before running
the wizard should i fix the domain in network properties.
please write the complete syntax.

First thing on DC No1 Change the DNS address to its private address not the
loopback and make sure DNS is listening on that address and that File
sharing and MS Client are bound to that interface.
Is the new DC you are trying to add pointing only to the first DC for DNS?
