I just bought a new DVD burner (Liteon 851S) and I can
view the drive using explorer and the drive plays movies
just fine but when I try to burn data to it I get this
error message:
DC MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

What is the problem?

No help here, but I am having the same exact problem when using my new
HP DVD420i Burner. I get it when using any DVD cloning software. Will
appreciate any help also.
