Hi,
If I go and launch Outlook Express and go File>Import>Messages>Msoft Outlook
Express6 then choose Import Mail from a OE6 Store Directory and browse to
my old HD and the dbx file at C:\Documents and Settings\MyName\Local
Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{A943E1A1-3184-4BAC-A7B1-1CB38A9841B8}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express\Inbox.dbx it works.

If I copy to another HD my current dbx file for inbox using copy/paste, then
reinstall a backup of PC prior to those emails, then do the File>Import
thing and browse to that backup. it doesnt want to know about it, says a
prog may be using the file. well there is no prog using that file.

Thus unable to reinstate my current up to date inbox and sent items...just
damn great !

Why ?

Had to resort to the two month old one and asking peeps to resend their
emails !

Steve

Sorry to cut you off, but...

microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general is where you'd want to go ask for OE
questions. Outlook and OE aren't actually related.

You need to copy the file called Folders.dbx as well otherwise the other
instance of OE doesn't recognise it as a message store...
