Dear All,

This is killing me !! I have d/graded from vista to XP to avoid this, and
now am still getting it. Anyone offer any advice? I have a server (sbs2003)
running MSSQL server, and have networked a laptop into the domain. It all
seems ok..can d/load files from the server, and can connect to the internet
on the newly networked laptop, but still get the above error when trying to
run a programme which uses the SL on the server. Any thoughts?

Ta

What program? What does the program's tech support say about this?

Hi SM

Here's a link that may help, with several potential causes (and their
cures) discussed:
http://www.dbforums.com/t976301.html

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

The program is a dental management software called R4, but the hardware guy
couldn't get VNC to work through it either. As for the Proramme support..they
kept insisting it was a hardwarenetworking error..the ususal pass the buck
thing they do.
The hardware guy thought that there may be some sort of a problem with
something blocking the ports, but this is where he couldn't come up with a
solution. The antivirus was removed from the initial vista, and then I
reloaded XP from scratch and disabled the firewall. Couldn't really see much
else that I could "undo".
Any thoughts?
PS the other site...did look but it didn't seem to work for me as most of
the issues they qwere having were not related to just the additional machine.
All my other machines are fine.
