I've been reading through the various kb articles regarding the changes to
Daylight Savings Time. The steps are fairly elablorate involving hotfixes or
importing registry keys and running a vb script. Is there any reason why I
can't just use timezone.exe found in the support tools to update my clients?

Which O/S are you supporting?

For Windows 2000, I would use it. For XP, I would use the patches. For
CE devices, I would look here:

HiED West Technology Briefings, News & Training : DST 2007 Update: DST
and Impact on PPC 2002 and Windows Mobile 5.0:
http://blogs.technet.com/hied_west_b...obile-5-0.aspx

*_Resolution_*

Microsoft has developed a Desktop Utility that can be used to update
Windows Mobile devices running Windows Mobile 5.0, Windows Mobile
2003,
Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. This utility will be available
through standard support channels as well as online at
http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsmobile/
<http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/> on *February 9^th *. Also
note, that during this same time, there will be a special patch
available to update Pocket PC 2002 devices as well. (Note that
Windows
Mobile 6 is not affected because it already has incorporated the
necessary changes).

I suppose you could try adjusting the values in timezone.exe, but I would
think the download suggested in :
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=928388 , would be even easier.

The supported systems for the patch is limited to XP SP2, I have over 300 SP1
systems. I might try testing the patch on sp1 systems...

Hi J.

We also have 100 or so SP1 PC's to deal with. Was wondering which route you
have that has worked best for you. Any suggestions or tips would be very
much appreciated. So far I've applied KB931836 to my test pc. But was also
wondering if there is a tested and easier method to apply that update to
pc's over a network.

Thanks!
