Is there anyway to display current date in the windows
toolbar? I assumed outlook would have something - even
the new email message appears as an envelope by my clock
on the windows toolbar....so i assumed i could change a
setting and add the date there as well. Any suggestions?

Did you disable the clock in Windows' system tray? If you hover your
mouse pointer over the time, it should show you the date.
