my computer has been fine - haven't done anything to it recently. suddenly,
it has started acting weird about dates.
I have pc-cillin installed, with all of the most recent updates. It runs
the default scans and hasn't found any viruses for at least a month. For
about a week I've had the following symptoms:
- when I open a Windows Explorer window to look for a file, and switch to
Details view, it displays the time stamp for the file, but no date
- when I mouse-over the time in the system tray, it does NOT display the
current date
- when I double-click on the time in the system tray to pop the "Date and
Time Properties" window, the time displays properly, and the year is
correct. if I open the drop-down to select a month, it shows a series of 12
'1's, with the sixth one selected. the graphic calendar that is displayed
shows the correct month (starts on the the correct day of the week, has the
correct number of days), and the right date is highlighted, but no name for
the month.
- when I open a command window (DOS prompt) and type DATE [enter], it
tells me "The current date is: The parameter is incorrect"
- the system date in the BIOS is correct
- if I use Palm desktop, it knows what today's date is, but if I go to the
week view, it says "dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy to dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy" instead of
the dates.
any ideas? thanks.
