Date not appearing when selecting file to insert

I hope this hasn't been covered before - I did search the archives, to
no avail...

I quite often need to email a batch of files (usually, but not always,
Word documents) that I have updated, and the easiest way for me to do
this is to sort the files to be inserted by date and, for instance,
insert into the email only the files which have been modified (or
created) today.

However, I can no longer see the modified date for files which I want
to insert. Of course, I have my view set to Details (as opposed to
List, Icons, etc), however no details show, except for the file name.
(Basically, the List view.)

I get around this by using Windows Explorer/My Computer/Computer
(whatever it's called these days) and sorting the files within a
folder into date order, copying them from there and then flicking over
to Outlook and pasting those files into the email. But, I'd rather
cut out the middle man, and do what I always used to be able to do,
and insert those files via Outlook and not via Windows Explorer.

I am running Outlook 2002 (part of Office XP) and Vista OS. All
updates and patches are up-to-date. Until recently (a few weeks or
so?) I was able to view the date modified when selecting files to
insert into an Outlook email. Now, I can't get Date Modified to show,
not even with Details as my selected view.

I hope my query isn't too confusing... Does anyone know why this is
happening now, and if there is a fix?

Thanks so much...

Vonnie

Sorry, I know it's bad netiquette to respond to my own email. I've
just realised that the same thing is happening in Word and, as Word is
my email editor... I guess it's a Word problem.

Again, sorry...
