When I forward a message, the date for the original email changes to the date
of forwarding. Also the person who received the forward only sees the
changed date. What could be the problem?

Forward the message as an attachment and they'll be able to see the original
message. Your message will still contain the date at which it was sent, but
they'll be able to open the attachment containing the original and see
exactly what you saw.
