I have a small database file that when I open, opens up to a form view. The
form view has a few buttons that perfom some actions against a databse. I
have claimed ownership of the databse, but when I open the file up, I don't
get any of the menus that allow me to change the view or look at the source
code behind some of the buttons.

Any ideas?

How, exactly, did you "claim ownership" of the database?

Has the database been "compiled" to MDE format? If so, then you can't open
Forms, Reports, or Modules in design view, and you need to obtain the
"uncompiled" MDB file.

Have you tried holding down the Shift key as you open the database? Did the
original owner secure the database using Access security?

Perhaps with enough detail, someone can offer worthwhile suggestions.

Holding down the shift key seemed to do the trick
