Hi Everyone,

Does anyone on the list know of any freeware/lite simple database software.

It doesn't have to be reational or anything like that. I just need to be
able to define about 10 fields or so and be able to do searches. No popups
or advertising and no limit on number of records.

I need to use it to keep a simple log and don't need heavy duty features.
It just has to be clean adn no limits on records.

I've searched all over the net and have not found anything suitable.

Thanks,

Bob

It's OK for a simple database, in fact the best I know (don't want SQL
like stuff, too big, too complex) but the Windows version is
abandonware.

The same author also offers a free database program which runs in
Java, called DataProspector:
http://arachnoid.com/DataProspector/index.html

You need two big downloads to get this working:
"Download and install the Java 1.4 Runtime Engine appropriate for your
computer.
Download and install one of the available JDBC drivers. Detailed
installation instructions are provided with DataProspector -- it even
locates and lists the appropriate Java installation directory in its
help display."

These are 3 I'm familiar with. I've used Owen Reese's VBDB more than the
other 2 and find that it works nicely

VBDB (Visual Basic Data Base)
"... makes it easy to create data bases and Custom FORMS."
http://www.denverdeals.com/web/asp/theme1.asp?
nav=http://www.denverdeals.com/web/freesoftware/vbdb.htm
here's a short url for the wrapped one above
http://snipurl.com/457g

PKB (Personal KnowledgeBase)
"...is a compact DataBase application designed to easily allow you to
store comments, notes, and text documents in one place, group them by
categories, and perform later search by argument or keyword."
http://www.marsius.com/

dbEdit
"..will dial your phone, allow you to edit databases in an easy way,
sort, search, create subset tables, and many other things."

Little Lists?

http://www.rkwest.com/downloads.shtml

From the page above, note that Little Lists is now free, but 'thinks' it
requires registration. The author provides the necessary codes at the
page linked below:
