Database slow to respond

With my database growing in complexity I noticed that if I sometimes go from
a form to the navigation pane (I think that's whats it called, where your
tables, forms, queries are located) - I can't scroll back and forth right
away and have to click off it and back on it in order to do so.

Is there a way to fix this. I notice this happens sometime in design query
mode, where sometimes I can't do certain functions on the tables (like move
them) unless I wait a little bit.

Thanks,

TIA
