Database Form Fields Empty

's Computer Specifications

I have a database that needs two fields to be "date"
fields. We only need to enter a date once a certain event
has happened. If I leave it blank I get the error message
about form fields being empty. I opened up the d/b
through access and made sure they are not "required"
fields. What gives?
