I am new to this and I need to understand how the data works with front
page.

If I design my website remotely and then publish to a web hosting site, Do I
need to store my database on the server hosting or can I include an MS
Access database file in my upload in the FPDB folder?

Or have I missed the boat entirely?

Yes, just import the database into the current open FP web on your local machine, FP will prompt you
to create a connection and then to move it to the fpdb folder, let it, as this will ensure that fpdb
has the correct permissions once the site is published to the remote server Windows IIS web server.
