I am an occassional Access programmer and I'd like to find a database
documenter that can show me what tables/queries are used by other queries or
in reports (and what tables/queries are not being used or referenced within
the database file). Can anyone recommend a tool that will "crawl" my Access
file and identify this?

Thanks.

JG

Not specifically to look for "unused" elements. Not sure there is a
tool for that, in as much as a 'database' is essentially just static
storage, ie, you can document what exists, but not what someone may or
may not need.

But Access has a built-in documentor that should help to provide an
over-all view of relationships.
Tools -> Analyze -> documenter
One might infer that an item that has no relationships is extraneous.

Visio Professional is a useful tool.

Total Access Analyzer from www.fmsinc.com is now back available for 2007
format (it was in abeyance for quite a while). A bit spendy but I've found it
extremely powerful and useful. There is an unused-objects report, among many
other useful tools.

Disclaimer: I have only used the 2002 version, but according to their webpage
it's now upgraded. If it is as good as it was, it's very good indeed. I have
no connection with the company, just a satisfied customer.

Access Dependency Checker (http://accessdependencychecker.com/ ) is a
free add-in that does not require name autocorrect to be turned on.
There is also EZY Documenter Premium (http://www.aadconsulting.com/
ezdocprm.html) available for a small fee.
