I installed a new harddrive and did a fresh load of all programs. I have
backup copies of all data files, but when I try to access my recovered BCM
file, the program does not recognize it. I have been able to recreate the
contact portion only since I had the Pocket PC version on my Palm, but I have
lost all account and project information, as well as historical notes on my
contacts. How can I get BCM to recognize a restored file? I've tried
copying and renaming, with no success.

BCM doesn't access the database file directly, instead BCM talks to
Sql Server, and Sql manages the file.

BCM v3 should recognize database files and ask Sql to attach (mount)
them. You can then tell BCM to use that database. With earlier
versions of BCM, you'll have to attach the database files to Sql your
self.

I've read the other posts, and I'm trying to determine why it doesn't work as
described. I am running version 3.00.6402.00 of BCM. When I restore a file
from the backup utility, that file does not show up in the list of files in
the select existing file dialog. The only file which shows up is the one
which is currently active.

Also, if I log on as the administrator and rename the restored file to the
existing name (in this case MSSmallBusiness2), the dialog recognizes it, but
when I try to open it, I get a message that the file is corrupted or
unrecognized.

I get the same message if I move the current file to another directory on
the same drive and then move it back without changing the name or using any
type of archive utility.
