data file not closing properly

Every time I open Outlook for my e-mail, I get a popup message that says a
data file did not close properly the last time I exited, and that it is going
to check the file for errors. It does this every single time and never fixes
it, and slows down my e-mail tremendously while it's doing that. Everything
was working fine on this for several weeks after I installed it. I tried a
"repair" of the Office Suite, but that didn't fix it. What's going on?

You failed to post your Outlook version. If it is Outlook 2007, this is
normal behavior. Outlook 2007 was never optimized for using PST files and
fails to disconnect cleanly from them within a reasonable period of time on
exit. That generates this error message. You can help this situation if you
eliminate anything that slows down or prevents Outlook's closure, such as
add-ins or sync software. Also, please give Outlook at least 15 minutes to
finish closing before you do anything drastic like shutting down your
computer.

I have Outlook 2007 running on XP Pro SP3 and am having the same problem -
only since Christmas. Could it be associated with iTunes with which I now
sync my phone? And if so, does anyone know if there is anything I can do
about it? It's not major but it sure is a nuisance.

When you want to talk about "the same problem", at the very least quote some
portion of the message to which you're referring so that we don't have to
guess what you mean.

It very well could be the fault of iTunes. Disable the iTunes add-in and
see of that makes a difference
