Hi,

Try to add msn app to the exceptions:
Control Panel\System and Maintenance\System -> Advanced system settings ->
Performance -> Settings -> Data Execution Prevention

Can you provide more information (e.g. debugger's output)?

Fact is, I don't think messenger should be triggering this by itself in the
first place. I suspect you have something else loaded that isn't playing
nice and clashes with it. If this is a brand new PC and the only thing
you've loaded IS messenger then I'd go back to Dell and ask them for help
fixing their busted-ass config.

If you've installed plugins, extras, etc. for messenger then uninstall them.

You can turn DEP off altogether, although it's not recommended.

DEP is preventing Messenger from running data as instructions - this is
a good thing. If you turn DEP off, worse things are likely to happen (if
you're lucky, it will still just crash - if you're unlucky, you'll get a
worm on your computer, and it'll crash).

Update your software to the latest version and see if that gets rid of
the problem.

I have this problem with data execution prevention, and have been looking in
the forums for help.Everyone has the same comment, either you should opt out
the program in qustion or you shold reeinstall the program. But noone seems
to know why the "DEP" is activated. Is it a fult or a bug or the
identification of an actial worm.

In in my case it started with that I couldnt open a map with avi files,
everytime i try the explorer crasches ( or i e the DEP activates a window
saying that the DEP has prevented explorer to work out th desired action )

does anyone have an explanation to this situation, I have found lots of
topics around this but no real indepth explanation.

DEP keeps areas in memory that are marked to be used for data only used
for data. Some attacks launch from areas in memory that are only meant
to be used for data and not for execution. This method allows the attack
to bypass certain protections. If a program is triggering DEP, then the
programmers needs to start following best practices.
