I used other video editing software to edit .dat file
but the left right channel collapsed into one channel
instead for my karaoke .dat file.

will movie maker separate the channels as in ms media
player ? How about pinnacle and ulead ?

Not sure about MM, I have not tried this before, but try asking in
rec.video.desktop about the other titles if you do not get an answer here.

If it's been changed to one channel, then it will remain one channel, you'll
not be able to split it out in to true stereo again. Most ediitng apps will
allow you to copy the left channel to the right (and vice versa) so you have
identical sound coming from both. I've not domne this with MM so would need
to check if it is possible.
