Darik's Boot and Nuke 1.0.3 - A boot floppy that wipes hard disks.

About:
Darik's Boot and Nuke (DBAN) is a self-contained boot floppy that securely
wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and
completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which
makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.

Changes:
This release has an updated kernel that performs better with Intel
Springdale chipset, a fix for the write-capable ATAPI device bug, and the
new DoD Short wipe method.

Release focus: Minor feature enhancements
License: GNU General Public License (GPL)
Project URL: http://freshmeat.net/projects/dban/

Homepage: http://dban.sourceforge.net
Zip: http://freshmeat.net/redir/dban/3303.../showfiles.php

Regards
Gordon

LOL...I have that on a floppy in our Tech Room. I have to keep
it in a safe place and labeled with 'death!' 'poison', etc,
since I've learned to live in fear of newbie employees in my IT
department.

There was an old DOS program, Norton-made I think, called
"WipeInfo" that could be run from an autoexec.bat file
using just command-line parameters. Did the usual multi-
pass scrambling. I doubt it would work on NTFS, unless
they came out with a newer version somewhere along
the way. In any event, if you just labled it "Boot Disk"
or "<favorite game name> Boot Disk" and left one laying
around ...

There is a bat file from BCWipe http://www.jetico.com/ that does
good job.

It's near the bottom of the page. "Batch file named 'MenuPD'
created by Mr. Kenneth Ives, allows user to run BCWipePD for
wiping all hard drives in a very convenient way."

This is also included when you install BCWipe.
"BCWIPEPD - Command-line wiping utility intended to shred
contents of whole hard drives, including system data areas."

The newer versions of BCWipe are shareware. The last freeware
version can be downloaded here
http://www.woundedmoon.org/win32_freeware.html BCWipepd and
MenuPD are stand alone programs so even if you don't like or
want to use BCWipe you can still use them.

Mine says "BOOM!" on the label. I have only had ONE person ask to use
it. He was very sorry he did. Viscious!
