That damn licensing service

I was having no end of problems with the licensing service hanging, so I
followed the instructions for deleting cpl.cfg, llsuser.lls and llsmap.lls.
Fine and dandy - it's running okay now except that I can't enter any license
purchases. The cpl.cfg file never got recreated like it's supposed to.
I've waited two days and tried several times to enter new licenses; it looks
like it takes them, but nothing ever shows up in the list. What now
Microsoft?
