After my computer starts up and it has got to the User
accounts icons , an error message comes up which reads
>>>>> error this programe has been damaged by a virus or

a bad sector of the hard drive. please uninstall it....
It subsequently stops me using several programs i have
installed like BearShare or Adobe.
Is this a virus i can remove or do i need to re-install
XP ????
Thanks.

Danny;
Run an updated virus scan or scan for viruses online, #1 on this link:

Go to the website of your hard drive manufacturer and get their hard
drive diagnostics.
