My Xp Pro + SP1 is driving me crazy. I had e perfectly working system since
today when I was unsure about my network config, so I've decided to reset
it, first trying to uninstall the network adapter in my system a 3COM
3C905-CX-TX-M.
The system popped up stating it couldn't uninstall it because needed for
boot.
So I've rebooted and discovered it wasn't working anymore. Not only that
adapter, but also my Adaptec DuoConnect 1394 adapter.

The 3com NIC was configured with the latest proper driver from 3COM, and the
DuoConnect was basically using the default XP built in driver. Both working.

Since then, I couldn't make them work anymore.

- I've tried the 3com utility that restores the system to a clean status -
- I've tried to use older drivers and the latest ones
- I've tried to restore the original driver.cab from the XP+SP1 cd (booting
in safe mode before swapping with the original one)
- I've removed both the adapters from the PC then tried to setup only one of
them then adding the second one, swapping them in the PCI slots etc
- I've tried to rollback the divers.

But nothing to do; what ever I try I get the "Hardware Update Wizard"
message that states:

Cannot Install this Hardware

There was a problem installing this hardware:

("3com Etherlink 10/100 PCI For Complete PC Management NIC (3C905C-TX)" or
"1394 Net adapter", depending on what adapter driver I'm trying to
restore/update/reainstall)

An error occurred during the installation of the device

The system cannot find the file specified

Maybe the inf's are damaged or maybe some keys are stuck in the registry
somewhere......

Don't know what to do.......

Any way to unistall networking support then reinstall it?
That may copy again missing files and settings.
