Whats the point?
I mean its kinda neat an all, but as seeing how DDR2 is starting to be embraced... do we already need a new memory standard? Does this mean that upgrading to DDR2 is pointless? If it works in a DDR2 socket then i dont see a problem, but for now, too much too fast.

Component progression moves fast, maybe too fast, DDR3 wont be mainstream for a while, at a guess at least a good 6 months to a year, still too expensive. DDR2 will be around for a good while yet. Some boards do actually support both DDR2 and DDR3

Yep they are - but the forward market for DDR2 is on the up, so get some more now before the price rises

DDR is still has by far the biggest user base.

If anything, DDR3 will kill off DDR2 rather than DDR.

Its all pointless anyway. There isn't any performance advantage over DDR2.

Huh!

PG, do some more reading, there are some really big advantages for DDR3 over DDR2 and plain old DDR, please remember, that memory is just one small part of the system, once again, it is an Intel 'invention' specifically designed for their new memory controller.

It will not take long before DDR3, in conjunction with the new memory controller, take the lead in speed.

What we really need though is, new hard drive technology.
